Midsummer Night’s Dream
My panic overrides the desire to please and entertain.
At the last minute, I am informed that I am to be Ariel in a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream 1 1 Of course, Ariel is in 'The Tempest'.. Although this has happened many times before, I try to be a good sport about it.
As I am running onstage I realize I do not know my lines. I decide to wing it (after all I have read and seen the play a hundred times at least) and convince myself that the gust of my charm and energy will carry me through.
But this never works and it does not work now. My panic overrides the desire to please and entertain. It is a disaster.
It is such a disaster that I give up and while still onstage, I grow fascinated with a large green leaf that has either 4 or 6 very round holes stamped into it.
